Since learning about my friend’s death this past weekend, I’ve been unconsciously checking Facebook and Twitter to see what he would have said about all of this. Of course this is completely insane, but whenever something so inexplicable and so shocking would happen, all of us here at Banter would wait to see what Chez had to say about it.
He could find the words we couldn’t, channel the rage more effectively, and articulate a response so pitch-perfect that you would always feel better about whatever had just happened. Now he’s gone, there is no one here to tell us how to feel about it or what to say. And for that reason, I’d like to send him a sincere “fuck you” from all of us. Or in the words of John Cleese in his eulogy of fellow Python Graham Chapman, “Good riddance to him, the freeloading bastard. I hope he fries!”
Chez, here’s the eulogy I know you would have wanted:
Still missing you my friend, and waiting for brighter days.
