Donald Trump is the cancer that keeps on spreading. He has normalized hate and bigotry to the point that we now have white supremacists sending out robocalls to accuse Trump’s opponent of being a “closet homosexual”:
A white-nationalist supporter of Donald Trump has launched a robo-call smear campaign in Utah that is designed to prevent independent presidential candidate Evan McMullin from winning the state’s six electoral votes.
The calls, which are targeting about 200,000 residents of the conservative state, according to the Salt Lake Tribune, say, among other things, that “Evan is over 40 years old and is not married and doesn’t even have a girlfriend. I believe Evan is a closet homosexual.”
They go on to ridicule that McMullin’s mother divorced his father and is now married to a woman.
Is Evan McMullin gay? Who knows, and more importantly, who cares? But Trump’s deplorable supporters want you to think he is because “Make America Hate Again” isn’t just a slogan, it’s a way of life. And attacking an opponent’s mother for being gay? That’s the kind of class we expect from the Trump movement.
Trump’s campaign denounced the attack but since being an out and proud bigot is part of their core message, it’s hard to take them seriously. For his part, McMullin responded exactly how he should: by slamming Trump and immediately linking him to the Republican Party:

Republicans have shown an unprecedented level of cowardice by groveling before Trump, and bravo to McMullin for calling them on it. This goddamn election can’t be over fast enough so we can get started on the hard work of shaming Trump’s little monsters back into the shadows where they belong.
