The fates have always been kind to Dinesh D’Souza. In addition to giving him a political disposition which conveniently allows him to pass himself off as an intellectual among people who don’t know any better, he somehow miraculously managed to avoid prison time for violating campaign finance laws. Thankfully, he repays this largesse by being endlessly entertaining on Twitter, the clicking of those computer keys sounding like the dropping of machine gun shells as he fires off burst after burst of incendiary commentary aimed solely at getting people to remember he’s still a thing that’s out there.
With that in mind, his latest tweet may be his masterpiece. The “Birth of Venus” of red meat tweets. Its target was, of course, D’Souza’s great not-white whale, Barack Obama — and his selfie stick.

Apparently, D’Souza disapproves of Obama’s recent video venture with Buzzfeed, in which the president took some lighthearted jabs at both Millennial culture and himself as a means of reminding everyone to register for the Affordable Care Act. For those keeping score, the video represented the latest appearance of the more relaxed, freewheeling, Bulworth-meets-Chris-Rock-at-the-Apollo, all-out-of-fucks-to-give President Obama, who seems to have finally applied some Rain-X to his back when it comes to the inevitable criticism of his political adversaries.
It would be easy to point out how offensive it is for anyone to call the first black President of the United States “boy” and assume he came from the “ghetto,” which he didn’t. (Also, I thought Obama was from Kenya.) But why bother? This is Dinesh D’Souza we’re talking about. As our own Tommy Christopher said as we were tossing this story around, you can practically hear him singing Katy Perry’s Firework to himself as he hit “tweet” on this thing. Begging for people to pay attention to him is pretty much all he has left. D’Souza isn’t even smart or self-aware enough to realize that when you’re a convicted felon, you don’t get to call somebody an embarrassment without people pointing and laughing at you.
You know who this really sucks for, though? Bobby Jindal. He’s going to have to spend a good portion of today taking slaps on the back from his fellow Southern Republicans, after which he’ll have to remind them that, no, he’s not Dinesh D’Souza.
