In America, it is apparently OK to send 12 year old children to 65 years in prison.
Take a guess at how many countries in the world allow children under the age of 18 to go to jail for life.
The answer? Four. The US, Tanzania, South Africa, and Israel. And the overwhelming majority of them are in America.
Alongside Somalia (a country with no government), the US is the only country in the world that has refused to ratify the 1989 U.N. Convention on the Rights of the Child, which bans life without parole for children.
Is this OK?
