A Republican Congressman Is Bringing a Date from “Duck Dynasty” To the State of the Union Address

The newest must-have fashion statement for Republican members of Congress at the State of the Union Address is apparently a man-date.

Last year Texas congressman, Twitter troll and unparalleled nut-job Steve Stockman brought Ted Nugent on his arm — a guy who, remember, had repeatedly threatened the life of Barack Obama — and this year it seems to have developed into a trend. At tonight’s event Sean Hannity will join Texas’s other congressional moron, Louie Gohmert, and now, announced just a little while ago via Twitter, Louisiana Rep. Vance McAllister says he’s invited Duck Dynasty star Willie Robertson to sit next to him and hold hands.

So, yeah, a redneck cosplayer from Duck Dynasty will be there watching the President of the United States conduct the serious business of addressing Congress and the nation about the state of our country. Because this is what Republican politics has degenerated into: a reality show, a chance to throw red meat to the yokel crowd back home through a juvenile display of alleged antagonism and defiance aimed at Barack Obama and liberals.

It’s impossible to take these people seriously. They prove it over and over again.
