Quote of the Day: Obama Isn’t the Antichrist (but He’s Preparing Us for Its Arrival)

“My thesis is people will have been conditioned long before the Antichrist comes to accept governmental overreach and that’s what you’re seeing with President Obama… I’m not saying President Obama is the Antichrist, in fact I’m sure he’s not, because the Antichrist is gonna have higher poll numbers… But I believe he is conditioning people to accept governmental overreach which they will finally give in to when this final dictator comes.”

— Dallas pastor Robert Jeffress, last night on The O’Reilly Factor

If you get a chance, do yourself a favor and watch the four-and-a-half minute segment this quote was taken from in its entirety. Mediaite has it posted right now. I realize I harp on this kind of thing quite a bit, but every time I see something like two grown men on a supposed news channel calmly discussing the arrival of the Antichrist and the role of the President of the United States in bringing it to fruition, I’m reminded that it may not be possible to harp on it enough.

We’ve been so conditioned to accept expressions of faith as rational and reasonable simply because of the sheer volume of them our society sees and sanctions on a daily basis that we forget just how absolutely insane they really are. Again, here are two adults, on a live news program being broadcast in the year 2014, discussing seriously and emotionlessly the ways in which a 2,000 year old book written by people who knew practically nothing about anything has predicted the future of the human race and the role an American political leader will play in the rise of an evil, supernatural force bent on the destruction of Earth. These people aren’t having this conversation in the common area of a mental hospital; they’re having it on national television.

Jeffress even wraps up his segment as if he were matter-of-factly doing the weather, saying, “The good news is, though, Christ is coming back. The short-term forecast for the world is turbulent. The long-term forecast is good.”

“That’s your five-day. Bryan Fischer’s up next with sports. Ephesians says it’s gonna be a good season for the Angels”

Completely fucking crazy.
