Other U.S. Presidents and Political Leaders Shaking Hands With Commies and Evildoers

We have to run through this exercise every time the far-right craps its cage about President Obama shaking hands with [insert other world leader here]. And it happened again today when — shock horror — the president shook hands with Raul Castro, brother of Cuba’s Fidel Castro.

So here we go again. Photos of other U.S. presidents and political leaders meeting with and shaking the hands of other enemies/villains/commies/dictators.

President Gerald Ford shaking hands with Soviet premier and leader of the Soviet Communist Party Leonid Brezhnev:

Here we see George W. Bush shaking hands with Uzbekistan dictator Islam Karimov who’s responsible for torturing dissidents and massacring protesters.

And well, well, well. George H. W. Bush shaking hands with socialist Hugo Chavez.

We’d be remiss if we didn’t include Richard Nixon shaking hands with China’s communist revolutionary leader Mao Zedong.

Here’s the classic hand-shaking video grab of Donald Rumsfeld and Saddam Hussein.

And who’s that white-haired senator, former presidential candidate and Meet the Press regular shaking hands with “interesting man” Muammar Gaddafi?

Here we see Ronald Reagan meeting with the Mujahideen leadership inside the Oval Office.

And finally, here’s Richard Nixon shaking hands with Raul Castro’s big brother.

Now can we STFU about this? Please?!
