It’s Tuesday and almost half way through the week, so not enough to get excited about but a damn sight better than Monday. Depending on where you are in the world, it’s probably damn cold, so to cheer you up here’s some entertaining stuff on the internets:
1. Clooney vs Crowe and DiCaprio
Celebrity rows are always pretty hilarious, mostly because of the enormous egos involved and inanity of the things they argue about. But the beef between George Clooney and Russell Crowe is about selling out and being an asshole (Clooney the former and Crowe the latter) so it’s actually kind of interesting.
2. Hilarious Reenactment of Russian Testicle Protester Video Surfaces
The Russian artist Pyotr Pavlensky nailed his testicles outside Lenin’s Mausoleum in Moscow on Sunday in protest against the Kremlin’s political rights abuses. The poor chap is apparently in hospital with unspecified injuries (although one would imagine it involves some very sore balls). The video of Pavlensky surfaced on the internet for the world to see, but youtube deemed it too extreme so someone came up with this brilliant reenactment:
3. Forgetting Veterans
Hamilton Nolan has a great piece in Gawker on veterans and the awful predicaments they find themselves in after coming back from war. A very worthwhile read.
4. Photo That Puts it All in Perspective
This photograph of Earth taken by Voyager 1, dubbed “Pale Blue Dot,” has been doing the rounds on the internet, probably because it puts pretty much everything in perspective. (Courtesy of the annoyingly addictive UpWorthy):
Ben Cohen is the editor and founder of The Daily Banter. He lives in Washington DC where he does podcasts, teaches Martial Arts, and tries to be a good father. He would be extremely disturbed if you took him too seriously.
