UPDATE: ABC News in Washington reports that a vehicle tried to ram the gates at the White House. A pursuit by Secret Service led to the Capitol where shots were fired.
Reports are coming in from the U.S. Capitol in Washington, DC, that apparently gunfire has occurred outside the building, which has been placed in lockdown. Around 15 shots fired. There are reports of several injuries including a Capitol police officer.
Talking Points Memo reports that the FBI is responding to the scene.
