The Tory austerity measures in the UK, unsurprisingly, will mean severe job losses according to an internal report. Why anyone thinks that cutting spending in the midst of a recession is a good idea is beyond me – it hasn’t worked any time it has been tried (just look at what happened to Latin America in the 80’s), so it stands to reason that it won’t work now. It’s amazing that the economic orthodoxy that got us into this mess is now being hailed as the antidote. Crazy.
