Just watched this discussion between David Shuster and Arianna Huffington on the likelihood of of the public option passing, and am as confused as ever. Arianna believes it probably won’t pass, but we’re seeing reports coming out with conflicting messages every day.
I do see a concerted effort by Democrats to lower the expectations for the public option (see Obama’s fairly weak defense of it in his speech to Congress), but the progressives in the party don’t seem to be letting up either. The end result? Utter, utter confusion.
Not the best way to get comprehensive healthcare reform done.
