According to the Washington Post, Ivanka Trump sent "hundreds of emails" pertaining to official government business from her personal email account.
After president Trump spent much of the 2016 Presidential election leading chants of "Lock her up" in regards to Hillary Clinton's use of personal email accounts in 2009, one wonders what action will be taken against his own daughter:
Ivanka Trump sent hundreds of emails last year to White House aides, Cabinet officials and her assistants using a personal account, many of them in violation of federal records rules, according to people familiar with a White House examination of her correspondence.
White House ethics officials learned of Trump’s repeated use of personal email when reviewing emails gathered last fall by five Cabinet agencies to respond to a public records lawsuit. That review revealed that throughout much of 2017, she often discussed or relayed official White House business using a private email account with a domain that she shares with her husband, Jared Kushner.
The emails were uncovered after a public records request was filed by liberal watchdog group American Oversight.
According to the Post report, aides were "startled" by the sheer number of Ivanka Trump’s personal emails, and were "taken aback by her response when questioned about the practice". The Post also reports that sources close to Ivanka stated that "she was not familiar with some details of the rules."
It is worth noting that this was the same reasoning Hillary Clinton used, and she was exonerated of any criminal wrong doing after an FBI investigation into the matter. Obviously Ivanka Trump is no more guilty than Clinton was, but the hypocrisy -- as is always the case with everything Trump -- is nothing short of astonishing.
