According to Rush Limbaugh, the mail bombs sent to Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, and CNN yesterday could not have come from a right wing terrorist because "Republicans just don't do this kind of thing."
Now that new bombs have been sent to Joe Biden and Robert DeNiro, it is safe to assume that we can discount any and all right wing conspiracy theories being floated by the likes of Limbaugh and other right wing nut jobs.
In an effort to downplay president Trump's obvious culpability in the letter bombs, conservative media figures have been busy coming up with all sorts of insane excuses. From Limbaugh's "false flag" conspiracy theory to Sean Hannity's amazing attempt to blame CNN and the Democrats for "demonizing" rhetoric, the excuses have been astonishing to listen to.
Speaking on his radio show, Limbaugh declared (with zero corroborating evidence) that:
"Even though every event, like mass shootings, remember, every mass shooting there is, the Democrats in the media try to make everybody think right off the bat that some tea partier did it, or some talk radio fan did it, or some Fox News viewer did it. Turns out, it's never, ever the case."
By never, ever the case, Limbaugh apparently means almost always the case. In fact, the US has a surging terrorism problem caused specifically by extreme right wing ideologists.
If there was any doubt as to whom the bomber is targeting, the news broke today that other prominent Trump critics are being sent similar packages. Reported The New York Times:
Two additional pipe bombs, one addressed to former Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. and the other to actor Robert De Niro have been found, law enforcement officials said on Thursday, the latest in a wave of similar devices sent to several prominent Democrats who have been have been the rhetorical targets of President Trump and several right-wing figures.
A law enforcement official said the envelope and printed address labels on the package sent to Mr. De Niro were similar to those on explosives sent to former President Barack Obama, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and others, and an X-ray showed it contained a similar device resembling a pipe bomb.
“This appears to be from the same sender,” the official said.
So if you did have any doubt about the mail bomber's political affiliation, you should feel free to disregard them immediately.
