In a brief interview with CNN today, Michael Cohen, president Trump's former attorney, urged people to vote Democrat in the midterms to prevent his former boss from wreaking more havoc on the nation.
"Here's my recommendation," he told MJ Lee. "Grab your family, grab your friends, grab your neighbors, get to the polls, because if not, you're gonna have another two or another six years of this craziness".
If Trump's personal lawyer is urging the country to vote Democrat to prevent him from causing more damage to the country, you can be sure it really is an emergency.
It is worth noting that Cohen looked remarkably subdued and timid during the quick interview, a stark contrast to the menacing persona he was notorious for as Trump's personal lawyer. Having rolled on Trump to avoid going to federal prison, Cohen's days as a fearsome attack dog are over, as are his days making millions of dollars as a hotshot attorney. Other than hawking tell-all books about his time with Donald Trump (expect that soon), Cohen's prospects for the future are looking pretty bleak.
The interview should serve as a warning on two fronts. The first is obviously to vote Democrat at all costs in November. Even if you don't like the Democratic candidate, vote for them. This is a savage war of attrition that must be won by any and every means necessary, and every vote counts. Michael Cohen might be a corrupt thug with no sense of right and wrong, but he does understand how bad things are under Trump.
The second is that you must not be like Michael Cohen under any circumstances. Cohen is living proof that if you associate with Donald Trump, work for him or support him publicly, thing will end very, very badly. Everything the president touches dies, and everyone involved with this sordid presidency is going to have to live with the consequences for a very, very long time. Cohen's 30 second interview tells you all you need to know about what happens when you do.
