Today was not a good day for Donald Trump. His former campaign chairman Paul Manafort was found guilty of eight criminal counts, including five counts of tax fraud, and Michael Cohen, the president’s former lawyer, also pleaded guilty to breaking campaign finance laws.
Cohen also shockingly stated that he arranged payments to silence two women “at the direction of the candidate,” referring to Trump.
We'll have more to say on this tomorrow, but Congressman Jerry Nadler, a Ranking Member of the House Judicial Democrats, managed to perfectly encapsulate what these guilty verdicts really mean:
Comparisons have been made between Donald Trump and Richard Nixon, but the truth is that they don't do the Trump administration's brazen criminality justice. Trump isn't just worse than Nixon, he is infinitely worse. He is a lying charlatan who is almost certainly a stooge for the Russian government, and has surrounded his campaign and government with a team of fraudsters and criminals so corrupt it makes the mob look like a law enforcement agency. This isn't worse than Watergate, it's worse than anything America has ever seen.
