If you want to understand why president Trump just burned down a carefully negotiated, internationally binding nuclear arms deal with Iran and put global stability in grave danger, look no further than his racism towards President Obama.

Today, Trump announced that he will impose “the highest level of economic sanctions” on Iran, and exit the deal agreed upon by Iran, the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council— China, France, Russia, United Kingdom, Germany, and the European Union. Trump will also sign an executive order to reimpose sanctions on all foreign companies that continue to do business with Iran. This is in direct violation of an international nuclear agreement and a UN resolution, and is almost certain to provoke a new crisis in the Middle East -- one which the region may never recover from.

Like Trump's continued attempts to destroy Obamacare, there is no sane reason why Trump has chosen to incinerate the nuclear deal with Iran. The fact that President Obama considers the deal one of his signature achievements while in office alongside the Affordable Care Act, is all you really need to know in order to understand his motivations.

Trump's hatred of Obama -- a black man with far greater intelligence, charisma and leadership skills than himself -- is well documented. Trump was one of the original 'Birthers' and rose to political fame off of the back of his fake attempts to prove Obama was not born in America. Obama's withering roasting of Trump at the White House Correspondent's Dinner in 2011 may well have been the catalyst for his decision to run for office in 2016, a theory supported by his single minded devotion to undoing everything his nemesis did while in office. As Charles M. Blow puts it, Obama is everything Trump wants to be, but isn't

Trump wants to be Obama — held in high esteem. But, alas, Trump is Trump, and that is now and has always been trashy. Trump accrued financial wealth, but he never accrued cultural capital, at least not among the people from whom he most wanted it.

Therefore, Trump is constantly whining about not being sufficiently applauded, commended, thanked, liked. His emotional injury is measured in his mind against Obama. How could Obama have been so celebrated while he is so reviled?

The whole world seemed to love Obama — and by extension, held America in high regard — but the world loathes Trump.

Obama receives adulation from intelligent, successful people, while Trump receives adulation from nasty racists, idiots, and a social class of people he would never want to associate with. This gnaws at Trump, particularly because a black man has all of the things he wants.

In reaction to president Trump's withdrawal from the Iran nuclear deal, President Obama made a rare public statement. "At a time when we are all rooting for diplomacy with North Korea to succeed, walking away from the JCPOA risks losing a deal that accomplishes -- with Iran -- the very outcome that we are pursuing with the North Koreans," Obama said. "That is why today's announcement is so misguided."

"In a democracy, there will always be changes in policies and priorities from one Administration to the next," Obama continued. "But the consistent flouting of agreements that our country is a party to risks eroding America's credibility, and puts us at odds with the world's major powers."

How much more will America and the world be made to suffer because of Trump's hatred of the first black president? What else will he attempt to undo in order to wreck the legacy of a man whose shoes he is not fit to shine? There appear to be no limits to Trump's destructiveness, and and all because his fragile ego cannot accept the achievements of someone born without his privilege, and without his skin color.
