On Sunday's episode of Last Week Tonight With John Oliver, America's favorite bespectacled former British citizen dedicated the bulk of his show to tormenting America's least favorite anti-gay religious fanatic, Vice President Mike Pence.
During the segment, in which he detailed Pence's long history of hardcore hatred towards the LGBT community, Oliver complimented Pence on having an adorable pet rabbit named Marlon Bundo and congratulated Marlon on having his very own children's book, "A Day in the Life of The Vice President". But then he noted that part of Marlon's book tour was to take place at Focus on the Family, the notorious anti-LGBT hate group Pence is closely associated with, thus ruining everything with Pence's obnoxious bigotry.
So Oliver decided to retaliate with the resources of an HBO show and a well connected comedian. He had his own children's book about Marlon Bundo written: "A Day in the Life of Marlon Bundo". It's a real children's book for actual children. Except it's about how Marlon meets the boy bunny of his dreams, falls in love and has to fight to get married over the objections of a Stink Bug that just happens to look like a certain vice president...
Additionally, the book is available as an audio version on Audible narrated by Jim Parsons, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Jeff Garlin, Ellie Kemper, John Lithgow, Jack McBrayer, and, naturally, RuPaul.
100% of the proceeds go to The Trevor Project, a crisis intervention program to help prevent LGBT suicides and AIDS United whose goal is to end the spread of HIV in the United States. Both of these are clearly worthy causes but Oliver sweetens the deal by pointing out, "that selling more books than Pence will probably really piss him off." And, honestly, what's better than making the world a better place while enraging a right wing hatemonger?
You can order "A Day in the Life of Marlon Bundo" at Amazon in hardcover or for your Kindle, Chroniclebooks.com, at Audible.com or just go to BetterBundoBook.com because this really is the better Marlon Bundo book.
