One of the greatest pleasures anyone opposed to white nationalism can enjoy right now is the comments section on Breitbart.com. The racist cesspool of white resentment is in a state of deep shock and disarray after Donald Trump went to war with Steve Bannon after the shocking revelations in Michael Wolff's new book "Fire and Fury" were released. Who do they love more, the white nationalist guru with a functioning brain, or the raving madman they elected to infuriate liberals? It's an impossible choice and the site has been thrown into turmoil much to delight of the rest of the country.
The trending articles section of the site is perhaps the best indicator of how the Breitbart oddballs are taking the very public break up, and it appears a steady diet of Muslim hate and sex is consuming most of their time on the site:
You have to go all the way down to the 9th most popular article on the site to see anything related to the biggest political news this month -- a saccharine puff piece designed to patch up the ruined relationship between Bannon and Trump.
The fallout from Michael Wolff's spectacular book is nothing short of disastrous for the Alt-Right, and it is hard to see how Bannon and Trump can survive the revelations at the same time. One of them must disappear from public sight, and it isn't clear who. Bannon likely understood the ramifications of his comments and believed them to be message to Trump that he was boss, but he may have badly miscalculated his readership and his power within the white nationalist movement. There is considerable speculation that the Breitbart board will be firing Bannon in the coming days, and if that happens the site will lose the major intellectual force behind the Alt Right movement. Bannon won't go quietly either, so we can expect more fireworks down the line that will do more to tear the community apart.
In other words, grab the popcorn and take a seat. Things are about to get very, very interesting.
