Liar in Chief Donald Trump took to Twitter this morning to propagate yet more lies about the women he sexually assaulted by lying about the Democrats and lying about the motivations of the women accusing him who are now demanding a Congressional investigation into his behavior:
The White House had already trotted out a truly ridiculous defense this week claiming the accusations were “false” and “totally disputed in most cases by eyewitness accounts.” The Washington Post looked into this fantastic claim and found that there are precisely zero eye witness accounts on record disputing any of the accounts told by any of the women. So in other words, the White House pointblank lied to the country.
Trump is now attempting to float another conspiracy theory -- that the Democrats are behind the latest push to hold him accountable for his crimes. There is of course no evidence that this is a plot by the Democrats, and there is of course no evidence the women are lying. We do know however, that Donald Trump is a serial liar with a sordid history of humiliating women, raping his own wife and admitting on tape he liked to sexually assault women. So on the balance of the evidence, it is fairly obvious that the Jessica Leeds, Samantha Holvey and Rachel Crooks are not lying about being sexually assaulted by Trump given they have nothing to gain financially and nothing to gain from the publicity. This coupled with the fact that there are 16 other women with remarkably similar tales of abuse and assault makes it overwhelmingly likely that the Commander in Chief is a violent sexual predator.
Trump knows that if he ends every tweet with his signature "FAKE NEWS" claim, his supporters will associate whatever he has just lied about with CNN or another media organization they hate. Despite the fact that this has nothing to do with "the news", nothing to do with the media companies reporting it, and everything to do with the crimes against women he committed, Trump understands that if he can distract his fans with the buzzwords that got him elected, he can slither his way out of trouble. However, the climate and attitude towards sexual assault has changed significantly since the beginning of the #MeToo movement, and Trump may have harder time lying his way through this one.
