Bannon vs Eminem

By now, you've probably heard Eminem's ruthless takedown of Donald Trump in a remarkably powerful hip hop video released before BET's Hip Hop awards. In it, the Detroit based rapper slammed Trump for his anti-immigrant rhetoric, blasted him for his ties to racists, and drew a line in the sand for all of his fans who support Trump telling them that:

And any fan of mine who’s a supporter of hisI’m drawing in the sand a line: you’re either for or againstAnd if you can’t decide who you like more and you’re splitOn who you should stand beside, I’ll do it for you with this:Fuck you!

The rapper, whose real name is Marshall Mathers, also went after Trump's Alt Right, white nationalist guru Steve Bannon:

All these horrible tragedies and he’s bored and would ratherCause a Twitter storm with the PackersThen says he wants to lower our taxesThen who’s gonna pay for his extravagant tripsBack and forth with his fam to his golf resorts and his mansions?Same shit that he tormented Hillary for and he slanderedThen does it moreFrom his endorsement of BannonSupport for the KlansmenTiki torches in hand for the soldier that’s blackAnd comes home from IraqAnd is still told to go back to Africa

According to a gleeful Breitbart, Bannon apparently spoke with author of the best-selling book Devil’s Bargain Joshua Green about Eminem's diss, telling the author and Reuters journalist that "On the record: Honey badger don’t give a shit.”

The Honey Badger reference is from a viral video that circulated the in 2011, meaning Bannon's retort is about as culturally relevant as MTV's The Real World (at least in internet years). Furthermore, the spectacle of a corpse-like 63 year old white man trying to dish out a "sick burn" to one of the greatest rappers of all time isn't just sad, it's painfully sad. Breitbart published the piece with the intention of defending their boss after he was emasculated by Mathers, crafting a short and snappy piece to make Bannon look powerful and cool. It didn't. It just made him look like the creepy, withered racist he is, and always has been.
