EPA director and climate change denier Scott Pruitt told CNN’s Jake Tapper that Donald Trump pulled out of the Paris Climate Accord because the president's primary concern was "American jobs", not climate change. Citing a provably false list of statistics, Tapper's guests that included Van Jones and Trump’s economic advisor Stephen Moore, discussed Pruitt's statement in a pretty heated back and forth.
Moore, who is about as intelligent as Trump's left testicle and as competent an economist as Ayn Rand, did not fare well against the rampaging Jones, who tore into Pruitt's statements with some harsh truths, and shut down Moore when he attempted to cite further falsities.
“There’s so much wrong. So many wrong things,” Jones told the panel about Pruitt's statement. “Simple stuff. Simple stuff. He says he is so proud we reduced, under the Clean Air Act, pollutants by 65 percent. That’s a huge achievement, he’s proud of it. But carbon wasn’t counted as a pollutant under the Clean Air Act until half way through the Obama term. Then Obama tries to move forward and they stop him they say ‘it’s terrible.'”
“When you have the word salad of nonsense coming from an EPA administrator didn’t say one word about the environment,” Jones went on. “His job is to be the environmental protection person. There was no protection in the speech. This was part of why I think normal people — you just saw Elon Musk pull out [of Trump’s business roundtable]. You cannot deal with this White House because you cannot deal with facts, can’t deal with science, can’t deal with economics, with jobs, can’t deal with anything except mythology and slogans. That’s where we are.”
Then, there was this glorious interaction when Moore attempted to lie about Obama's Clean Power Plan:
Moore: We already have an example of what these climate change policies can do with something called the Clean Power Plan--
Jones: Which never got implemented. It never got implemented!
Moore: And we've seen...
Jones: No, we didn't.
Moore: You talk about what's happening in California, look what's happening in West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Ohio. I visited a lot of those coal towns that were decimated by those climate change regulations.
Jones: I can't let you lie. Obama's Clean Power Plan never got implemented. It was put forward because the conservative Nixon, created the conservative Clean Air Act and EPA and the right wing Roberts Court said Obama had to use that on climate change, so Obama moved forward with the plan and it didn't get implemented because you guys stopped it.
