Fox News Spreads Vile Conspiracy Theory to Distract Public From Trump Leaks

This is such a transparent distraction that the only people who -could- fall for it are Trump voters.

The only thing more insulting than how stupid Wikileaks and Fox News thinks American conservatives are is that they're not wrong. Without a racist executive order or a giant bomb ready to drop as a distraction, Trump's buddies at his two favorite propaganda outlets had to do something to get conservatives to stop talking about their idiot idol leaking highly classified information to the Russians. It didn't take long.

Just like magic, the murder of Seth Rich was resurrected as a fresh scandal. Rich was the DNC staffer who was killed last July and instantly became the new "Vince Foster." Foster, for those of you mercifully born after the Whitewater "scandal", was a Clinton aide who committed suicide back in the 90s but non-sheeple conservatives "know" Hillary had him killed. And now she's struck again!

Just two months shy of the one-year anniversary of Rich's death, FOX 5 has learned there is new information that could prove these theorists right.

Rod Wheeler, a private investigator hired by the Rich family, suggests there is tangible evidence on Rich's laptop that confirms he was communicating with WikiLeaks prior to his death.

It will come as no surprise to all you sheeple that the story isn't true (Salon crushes it here and the family of Seth Rich is pretty pissed off about it) but that doesn't matter. The right is already breathing a sigh of relief they have something new to grab onto. Watching Twitter, you'd think that Trump had never screwed over one of closest allies (it was Israel, The New York Times reports) by blabbing one of our most closely held secrets to the Russians. Today, they're far too busy demanding investigations into Hillary Clinton and John Podesta on the word of a Fox News contributor who's been denounced by the police, the FBI and Rich's family despite Fox's claim he was working for them.

Wikileaks, to be fair(ish), repudiated the theory last summer that Seth Rich was murdered for leaking information but only after Assange offered a $20K reward for information and insinuated that Hillary was involved:

WikiLeaks backed off the claim, saying his statement "should not be taken to imply that Seth Rich was a source for WikiLeaks," nor that his death was connected to the leaked emails.

Wikileaks, of course, went right ahead and retweeted the story and has yet to retract it or tweet any of the various debunkings. Funny how that worked out. Sean Hannity has been ranting about it on Twitter since late last night and Fox is apparently swooning over it today. Tonight's episode of Hannity should be quite the spectacle. In the meantime, the right is lit up like a Christmas tree over the fabricated story.

The American right wing has been so conditioned to accept any information that is anti-left, especially if it's anti-Clinton or anti-Obama, that they are little more than drones at this point. They laugh when they're told to laugh, hate who they're told to hate and ignore what they're told to ignore. Unfortunately for Trump, the media has taken quite a shine to reporting on his numerous gaffes and after spending months raking Hillary over the coals for mishandling (but not really) classified information, they're not going to let go of this story to chase after tinfoil nonsense. At least until the next incredibly stupid thing Trump says or does.

But by then, Trump's staff will have some new shiny object to wave in front of conservative voters to distract them.

There are 539 days left to the 2018 elections.
