Kellyanne Conway may have pulled off one of the biggest political upsets in history when she got Donald Trump elected president, but the months since the election have been terrible for her. As counselor to the president and one of the most well-known faces of the administration, Conway is often told to speak for Trump on television news programs. And it was great for her for awhile. The former campaign manager was considered one of the most reliable sources on everything Trump, but that has all changed and now she is being blacklisted from some very popular shows.
On Wednesday morning, MSNBC Morning Joe host Mika Brzezinski said that Conway would no longer be welcome on the program because she just doesn't trust her anymore. Brzezinski told viewers that Conway's obvious lack of knowledge of the conversations within the administration has eroded her credibility and she would not be allowed to spread her propaganda on the show anymore:
"We know for a fact she tries to book herself on this show; I won't do it 'cause I don't believe in fake news or information that is not true. That is — every time I’ve ever seen her on television something is askew, off or incorrect."
Joe Scarborough jumped in and said that he doesn't think Conway is purposely lying but instead believes she is just being kept out of the loop and she is "just saying things to get in front of the TV and prove her relevance." To which Mika responded:
“Kellyanne Conway does not need to text our show, as long as I’m on it. It’s not happening here.”
The hosts' comments come just two days after Conway said former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn had the "full confidence" of the president only to be contradicted later in the day by Sean Spicer. And a day after a run-in with Today Show host Matt Lauer where she was told she wasn't making any sense when she was trying to defend Trump over his decision to keep Flynn on despite knowing about his lies to the American public.
It would be easy to just jump on the bandwagon and bash Kellyanne Conway for her misinformation, but is she really 100 percent to blame here? Brzezinski and Scarborough want us all to believe that Conway was just booking herself all over television without the Trump Administration's permission and therefore she is at fault. Does that really make sense? The idea that a high-level government employee would be allowed to do something like that is preposterous. But what is even more outrageous is that the Morning Joe hosts are basically saying that they allowed people on the program without properly vetting them. If they are saying that Conway booked herself when they knew she was not credible, they are really admitting that they didn't give a shit what she was going to say as long as they had a guest on their show.
And what is even worse is that these excuses let Trump off the hook. If the Trump friendly hosts convince their audience that Conway was doing this all by herself, that means the president isn't responsible for what is coming out of her mouth. She, in turn, becomes the scapegoat for an administration that has absolutely no relationship with the truth.
Kellyanne Conway is a known liar, but she is a liar in an administration full of other liars who answer to the biggest liar of all. Someone who the morning show hosts are great friends with. If Scarborough and Brzezinski were really concerned with "fake news," they would stop being MSNBC's version of Sean Hannity's show. I'm all for calling out officials when they do something wrong and Conway should be taken to task, but the Morning Joe hosts need to take a nice long look in the mirror before next time they decide to go on a sanctimonious rant.
