Twitter has become Donald's weapon of mass distraction. He regularly throws bombs to get people in a foaming rage while he quietly builds an administration that will devastate the working class, finish dismantling the middle class and make billions (if not trillions) in profit for a select few.
Donald's latest sleight of hand is a tweet about stripping flag burning protesters of their citizenship, a crowd pleaser for his "patriotic" base that will send liberals into spasms of rage. This unenforceable claim followed several hours after Donald nominated Rep. Tom Price to be the secretary of Health and Human Services.
Price, a rabid opponent of Obamacare, is, according to Vox, exactly the right person to destroy the ACA. He has a plan and it's just as terrible as you'd expect from a Republican:
It would replace the law with a plan that does more to benefit the young, healthy, and rich — and disadvantages the sick, old, and poor. Price’s plan provides significantly less help to those with preexisting conditions than other Republican proposals, particularly the replacement plan offered by House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI).
The biggest cut to the poor in Price’s plan is the full repeal of the Medicaid expansion, a program that currently covers millions of low-income Americans, which Price replaces with, well, nothing.
"Disadvantages the sick, old, and poor" really is the motto of the Republican Party and Price's nomination is a signal that Donald is more than willing to tear Obamacare apart no matter how many of his own voters get hurt in the process. Even as he mouths concern for people with pre-existing conditions, Donald is preparing to make their insurance unaffordable by allowing insurance companies to charge them more:
Price’s Empowering Patients plan, like Obamacare, requires insurance plans to offer coverage to any patient regardless of how sick they are. But the Empowering Patients plan, unlike Obamacare, would let insurers charge sick people more if they did not maintain “continuous coverage.”
So if your coverage lapses for any reason, no matter how short the time period, insurance companies can bill you into bankruptcy, just like the good ol' days. You can expect a lot of checks to get "lost in the mail", resulting in temporary policy cancellations. If you think that sounds conspiratorial and crazy, remember, the health insurance industry once had a widespread policy of "rescission". They would cancel the policies of people with serious illnesses, like breast cancer or HIV, and then look for an excuse to make that cancellation stick. These are people that will happily consign millions to die unnecessarily to pad their bottom line. And with the Republicans essentially promising to let them do it, they will.
In the meantime, Donald, the champion of the blue collar worker, will keep his base angry and gleefully malicious by trolling liberals so less people pay attention to how he's destroying their lives. But maybe after millions of Trump voters in places like Kentucky lose their excellent coverage, they'll finally figure out they've been had. At least until Donald tweets about how illegal Muslim immigrant liberals are to blame.
