On Wednesday night during the final presidential debate, Donald Trump called Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton "a nasty woman," and now liberals on the internet are trolling him for it in the best way possible.
The nasty exchange occurred when Hillary Clinton responded to a question from moderator Chris Wallace about Social Security:
Well, Chris, I am on record as saying we need to put more money into the Social Security Trust fund. That’s part of my commitment to raise taxes on the wealthy. My Social Security payroll contribution will go up as will Donald’s, assuming he can’t figure out how to get out of it, but what we want to do is —
The Republican nominee who has "the most respect for women" decided to go the misogynistic route when he was mad, and social media went wild over the comment. The best response however, was this: Nastywomengetshitdone.com. Someone bought the domain name, redirected it to Hillary Clinton's campaign website and thumbed their nose at Trump's ridiculous insult.
Make no mistake, calling her "a nasty woman" is something that strong women are often called when we refuse to back down; it's the politically correct version of "what a bitch!" The right-wing and Hillary-haters on the left have been spreading the idea that she is an ice queen, a bitch, an evil human being. They say that Hillary is mean, curses like a sailor etc, etc order to make her seem like less of a woman.
In 2016, there is still a broad misconception that "real" women stay home, care for their children, bake pies, rub their husband's feet when he comes home from work, wear dresses and are seen but not heard. The right uses this make-believe image of a woman to disparage Hillary Clinton who refuses to conform to the stereotype.
Trump, you will remember, said that Hillary Clinton couldn't possibly lead the country when she "couldn't even satisfy her husband," so his insult last night was another reinforcement of this deeply sexist notion.
Unfortunately for Trump and everyone like him, Hillary Clinton's record speaks for itself and shows in no uncertain terms that "nasty women" do, indeed, get shit done. Like for example, kicking his ass in the 2016 presidential election.
