Whatever you may think of US foreign policy, this incredibly moving footage of Syrians celebrating their freedom from ISIS in the city of Manbij is a testament to some of the good the coalition forces are doing.
US-backed Kurdish and Arab fighters finally drove out ISIS after two years of horrific violence, and residents of the town celebrated by shaving their beards off, smoking in the street and burning ISIS mandated clothing.
We will no doubt learn more about the horrendous brutality the citizens of Manbij endured during the ISIS occupation -- brutality many of the people interviewed seemingly could not bear to recount. But the people of Manbij get to celebrate a victory over one of the most dangerous viruses on the planet, and can finally get on with the business of living without the daily fear of rape, torture and death.
And for that, the US and everyone else committed to getting rid of this disease can feel proud.
