Apparently Ann Coulter is still alive and well, much to the dismay of pretty much everyone. Coulter has had a hard time getting attention with her schtick in recent years, mostly because the shock factor has largely disappeared. Coulter made a name for herself through the potent combination of her shocking blond hair, waif like figure, and unbelievably offensive political opinions. It worked for a good few years, but as Ann ran out of new things to say, media outlets stopped bringing her on to boost their ratings.
Anyhow, it appears there are some shows still keen to bring Coulter in for ratings as the old war horse can always be counted on to offend everyone while flicking her hair at the camera. Here was Coulter in an interview on Fusion's America With Jorge Ramos explaining why immigrants are more dangerous than ISIS:
Here's the key quote:
If you don't want to be killed by ISIS, don't go to Syria. If you don't want to be killed by a Mexican, there's nothing I can tell you.
Although it goes without saying that almost everything that comes out of Ann Coulter's mouth is complete nonsense, it is worth mentioning an interesting study that shows cities with big immigrant populations have lower crime rates than other more homogenous cities. Reports the Guardian:
Studies in the US have shown that, far from what the anti-immigration lobby would have us believe, a city with more immigrants has lower crime rates. A study by Robert J Sampson, professor of social sciences at Harvard University, found that first-generation immigrants were 45% less likely – and second-generation immigrants 22% less likely – to commit violence than third-generation Americans. As Sampson has summed it up: “If you want to be safe, move to an immigrant city.”
One could also look at the immigration 'problem' from the perspective of Native Americans given they probably didn't want to be killed by white people either. But that would be dealing in facts and history, so you can safely count Coulter out of that one.
