Anti-Immigration Protesters Gather At White House To Demand Obama Be Lynched

You only have to visit the White House a few times to become acclimated to the array of harmless, nutty, and attention-starved folks who gather there to protest one thing or another, but occasionally, the nuts aren't so harmless. Barely a year after Tea Party protesters flew a Confederate flag in front of the White House, a group of anti-immigration protesters gathered in opposition of President Obama's executive action on immigration to demand, among other things, that the President be hanged. Right Wing Watch filmed this Wednesday in front of the North Lawn of the White House:

"Hang the traitor!"

"Hang the lyin' king and traitor!"

"We got rope."

"Plenty of trees in the front yard."

"Oh, we got a ton of trees, there's a fine one right over there."

"Wouldn't be the first one hung on one of them trees."

"You don't snap his neck, you pull him up and watch him choke to death."

Right Wing Watch also reports that the group was asked to move onto the sidewalk by the Capitol Police, but did not report any intervention by the Secret Service, uniformed or otherwise:

a Capitol Police officer stepped in to move the protestors back onto the sidewalk, where the crowd engulfed the ever-present demonstrators seeking a U.S. ban on nuclear weapons and a group of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

The anti-immigrant activists then complained that they were experiencing government persecution by being moved off the street, which the colonist-impersonator claimed was an order sent directly from Obama himself.

The White House and the Secret Service have not yet responded to requests for comment.

Over the years, weirdo protesters like these become like wallpaper in front of the White House, but after the recent fence-jumper security breach, and the revelations that attended Secret Service Director Julia Pierson's resignation, incidents like these are more difficult to dismiss, and inattention from the Secret Service is even harder to understand. It's nice that Right Wing Watch is around to videotape this stuff, but it seems like somebody in charge should be keeping track of who's yelling death threats at the President in his front yard.

This is also a step up the escalator from anti-immigration protesters frothing at a busload of YMCA campers, to be sure, and it's also a reminder of the steepness of the hill republicans will have to climb in 2016. Primary politics will dictate the sort of rhetoric that draws out this type, rhetoric like demands for impeachment, and that rhetoric will in turn draw more of these people out. Pretty soon, average Americans will get the idea that republicans are the party of angry white people.

Update: The Secret Service has no comment.
