From a sociological perspective, the relationship between Kanye West and Kim Kardashian is fascinating to watch.
While they seem to be having a great time flaunting body parts, gigantic diamond rings and private jets in public, their story works as a modern day fable as to what not to do when it comes to finding the right person. If you're a troubled, massively narcissistic ego maniac, it's probably best not to get involved with a vapid attention seeker who got famous for releasing a sex tape on the internet. In a union built on vanity, materialism and very public displays of sexual affection, it's probably fair to say that it is destined for a spectacular finale in the very near future.
Regardless, in today's hyper sexualized, ADD media culture, their behavior is rewarded with more and more material gain. There are more overt displays of grotesque wealth and more displays of cringeworthy sexual affection. The more ridiculous Kanye and Kim behave, the bigger they become - a tactic both have become incredibly adept at.
How do they take their partnership to the next level? Easy - release a ludicrously expensive, overly produced music video featuring wild horses, snow covered mountains, and themselves having sex on a motor bike. Tasteless? Tacky? Godawful? Who cares! As long as Kanye is rapping about 'bitches and niggas' and Kim has her breasts out, it's a guaranteed hit.
In the third video from his Yeezus album, West released 'Bound 2' on the Ellen show today, and it's probably the dumbest music video from a major talent in the last 10 years. Just watch Ellen's face once the video is over:
