Morning people, Tuesday is here - three more days till the weekend, so plenty of time to fill your brain with entertaining/useful information before killing your brain cells with alcohol.
Here's what you should be reading:
Build a Happy Brain
There's a very interesting piece in The Atlantic looks at a neuropsychological approach to happiness - a method neuropsychologist Dr. Rick Hanson believes can be achieved by "training neurons to overcome a negativity bias". The basic idea is that our brains are wired to focus on the negative (a trait that may have helped us survive in the wild), so it's down to us to re-wire our neurons through behavior changes and 'focusing on the good'.
Pakistani Drone Victim Comes to Congress
Rafiq ur-Rehman lost his mother, Momina Bibi, while she was tending to her garden in Pakistan in 2012. The 67-year-old grandmother of nine was killed by a US drone strike, and Rehman has never found out why. Now he's here with anti-drone lawyer Shahzad Akbar to ask Congress for an explanation.
Chris Brown Released From Jail After Another Assault
Singer and perpetual douchebag Chris Brown will be going to court for yet another assault after apparently punching a man outside the W Hotel in DC last weekend. Brown was released from custody yesterday and was informed that the assault charge would be reduced to a misdemeanor. This could be construed as a violation of his parole (Brown was arrested in February 2009 for punching and biting Rihanna inside a car on a Hollywood street), and Brown may be facing a very long time in jail.
Dizzee Rascal: Love London
UK Hip Hop artist Dizzee Rascal has a brilliant new album out "The Fifth" featuring music video "Love This Town", a clever riposte to the images the media displayed after the London riots in 2011. Pretty catchy too:
Have a great day folks.
