Check out the following gem from the Atlantic's resident waffler Megan McArdle:
Rural areas have a farmer's contempt for welfare, and the entire
upstate region knows too well that the taxes and regulations imposed by
the rich downstate voters are crippling their economy. No, this is not
libertarian cant; it's obvious to basically anyone who spends any time
Farmer's contempt for welfare? Eh? The same farmers that receive billions of dollars in federal subsidies from those same rich downstate voters?
Her post is another long, unsubstantiated rant on unions, working people and how the solution to everyone's problem is (you guessed it) tax cuts. Megan's posts are an excellent insight into the mind of an intelligent person struggling to cope with the fact that their intellectual paradigm is no longer relevant.
Libertarianism is about as useful to today's economy as Marxism was to Russia on the 26th of December 1991 (the day after the official end of the Soviet Union for my fellow history buffs). Change the record Megan, it's getting old.
