I'm a big fan of Evo Morales and support his socialist reforms in Bolivia, and I'm even more impressed he is going on hunger strike because the opposition-controlled Senate is blocking a bill that would give
greater political power to Bolivia's indigenous majority.

Morales is part of the indigenous majority that makes up over 55% of the population and has historically been severely discriminated against. His radical moves to empower his people have been met with bitter opposition at home and abroad, but he has remained steadfast in his mission to re-balance the tragically un-equal nation. The domestic opposition is particularly opposed to Morales given it controls most of the land and resources, and the bill would help redress the massive inequality.

The fight looks like it has just begun, but unlike our own two party duopoly, Morales has his feet firmly planted on one side. And it doesn't look like he will fold easily.
