Too Cute By Half

In their continuing attempt to be contrarian, this writer in Slate attempts to say that college football is more innovative than the NFL because they use more trick plays. Of course, the problem is, in college you can get away with that stuff a lot because the other team isn't that good. In the NFL, even the worst team is pretty good and plenty fast and it's rare that that trick college stuff works - that's what coaches like Steve Spurrier try and that's why the NFL kicks them in the rear plenty hard.
