My Interview on the London Riots

Ben Cohen · August 10,2011

I spoke to RT's Kristine Frazao yesterday about the London riots and gave my thoughts on the social problems facing the UK's teenage generation:

Tragically the riots have spread to other cities around the UK with violence and lawlessness rivalling that of the capital. More thoughts and analysis later today.

First London Riot Fatality, Violence Set to Continue

Ben Cohen · August 09,2011

Not good news from the UK capitol. From the Independent:

A young man shot in his car during last night's "unprecedented" rioting died today.

A murder hunt was launched as police announced that the 26-year-old victim had died after being admitted to hospital.

He was discovered in a car suffering from gunshot wounds at about 9.15pm as trouble flared in Croydon, south London, last night.

Scotland Yard described last night's violence as the worst it had seen "in current memory" for "unacceptable levels of widespread looting, fires and disorder".

Along with the 26-year-old who was fatally shot, a total of 44 officers were wounded in the capital and a man in his 60s suffered life-threatening head injuries.

I'll be on the RT network discussing the riots later on today. Link to follow.

Phone Hacking Scandal Worsens Part 57

Ben Cohen · July 28,2011

The scandal that knows no end just keeps getting worse and worse. This time, the ramifications will be devastating. From the Guardian:

Sara Payne, whose eight-year-old daughter Sarah was abducted and murdered in July 2000, has been told by Scotland Yard that they have found evidence to suggest she was targeted by the News of the World's investigator Glenn Mulcaire, who specialised in hacking voicemail.

Police had earlier told her correctly that her name was not among those recorded in Mulcaire's notes, but on Tuesday officers from Operation Weeting told her they had found her personal details among the investigator's notes. These had previously been thought to refer to a different target.
