Trump Farage.jpg

Nigel Farage, the former leader of the quasi-fascist UK Independence Party (UKIP) will be forever known as the man who helped ensure his country left the European Union, then ran away when the shit hit the fan. Literally days after the referendum results were released, the 'everyman' fraudster who had spent a career pilfering money from the organization he detested, decided it was all a bit much and legged it in order to get his "life back".

Farage and his alliance of similarly detestable xenophobes had never bothered to actually think about what the Brexit would mean for the country (hint: assured economic disaster), and had done about as much planning for victory as George W. Bush and Dick Cheney had for post-invasion Iraq.

Retirement doesn't suit gobshites like Farage though, and the prospect of drumming up some new attention for himself on the other side of the Atlantic was apparently too enticing and he has now allied himself with the more grotesque, more belligerent and more dangerous version of himself, Donald Trump.

To raucous applause at a Trump rally in Jackson, Mississippi, Farage berated President Obama for urging Brits to vote to stay in the EU.

"He [Obama] talked down to us," said Farage. "He treated us as if we were nothing."

Although Farage didn't explicitly endorse Trump, he told Americans that there was a clear choice in this election.

"If I was an American citizen, I wouldn't vote for Hillary Clinton if you paid me," said Farage.

"If you want change in this country, you better get your walking boots on, you better get out there campaigning."

"And remember, anything is possible if enough decent people are prepared to stand up against the establishment."

For his part, Donald Trump effusively praised Farage for helping Britain regain control of its borders.

"On June 23, the people of Britain voted to declare their independence, which is what we're also looking to do, folks - from their international government," said Trump -- forgetting the fact that Britain is and always has been independent, and willingly joined the EU.

From whom America is supposedly declaring their independence from is anyone's guess.

This was classic Farage, and classic Trump -- two immensely privileged middle aged white men whipping up nationalism and stoking racial tensions for their own financial and political gain. As Trump continues to wreck his own campaign through astonishing ineptitude and the world's worst team, it isn't surprising he thought bringing in Britain's most shameless dickhead was a good idea.

Trump is attempting to appear serious while appealing to the same idiot voters who propelled him through the primaries. As every Republican presidential candidate this past decade will tell you, this is no easy task. Both John McCain and Mitt Romney tried their best to appease the lunatic fringe while convincing centrists they weren't insane, and Trump is now desperately trying to do the same.  The emergence of Farage on the campaign trail is just another lazy gimmick his brainless entourage have come up with to keep the red meat morons at bay while trying to up his international credibility. And like everything Trump has done in the general election against Hillary Clinton, it won't work.

Because if there's anything worse that one dickhead leading a political rally, it's two dickheads leading a political rally.
