Human virus and 2016 presidential candidate Donald Trump was not content with just tweeting a hugely offensive statement in wake of the Orlando shooting. He had to roll out the most shopworn, self evidently stupid and demonstrably wrong solution to America's gun massacre epidemic.

Speaking to CNN, the orange blob man said that 50 people dancing at a nightclub would not have died at the hands of a religious fanatic armed with an assault rifle if they too had been armed.

“If you had some guns in that club the night that this took place, if you had guns on the other side, you wouldn’t have had the tragedy that you had,” Trump toldCNN in interview on Monday morning.

“If you had guns in that room, if you had — even if you had a number of people having them strapped to their ankle or strapped to their waist where bullets could have flown in the other direction right at him, you wouldn’t have had that tragedy.”

Yes, because one should always go out clubbing armed to the teeth on the off chance a deranged mass murderer decides to go to the same venue.

Even if the clubbers at Pulse nightclub had decided to tool up, the chances of them subduing the shooter would have been close to zero. This myth, perpetuated by the criminally stupid National Rifle Association, is just utter, utter bullshit. Reported Mother Jones

A closer look reveals that their case for arming Americans against mass shooters is nothing more than a cynical ideological talking point—one dressed up in appeals to heroism and the defense of constitutional freedom, and wholly reliant on misdirection and half truths. If only Sandy Hook's principal had been packing heat, the argument goes, she could've stopped the mass killer. There's just one little problem with this: Not a single one of the 62 mass shootings we studied in our investigation has been stopped this way—even as the nation has been flooded with millions of additional firearms and a barrage of recent laws has made it easier than ever for ordinary citizens to carry them in public places, including bars, parks, and schools.

But then reality and facts have never mattered to Donald Trump, who sees the horrific tragedy in Orlando as merely another opportunity to appeal to the morons planning on voting for him this November.
