The U.S. House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform Thursday held a hearing on how Governor Rick Snyder's administration has handled the Flint water crisis, which resulted in the poisoning of an entire community of children with lead. Republicans have consistently tried to deflect blame away from Snyder to the EPA, which is like trying to defend Charles Manson by trashing Squeaky Fromme, and some have even expressed admiration for him. In his powerful opening statement, though, ranking Democratic member Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-MD) left no doubt as to where the responsibility lies. His takedown of Snyder is a thing of sad beauty:
It will make you want to cheer while you cry.
