Sorry, Rand, you're gonna have to do better than that. It's a whole new world out there.

Now that Donald Trump has made himself the de facto head of the Republican party by detonating a 20-megaton bomb of pure crazy right in the middle of it, what does it mean for the rest of the GOP presidential candidates? Where does his success leave the other 347 people determined to win the nomination and ascend to the White House when the media spends literally every minute of every day reporting on whatever lunatic thing Trump is saying or doing next?

What's most fun about Trump's absolute domination of this race as of late, to the confusion of everyone, is the way he's showing all the amateur jokers how it's done. Used to be Ted Cruz could warn people that the Mexican Illuminati was going to conjure Satanic troops and take back Texas or Ben Carson could say that eating popcorn turns you gay and it would generate headlines and hashtags for days. Now, though? Child's play when Donald Trump is giving out Lindsey Graham's phone number and insulting a former American POW.

It's tough to out-crazy Trump, but Rand Paul -- once considered a "serious" candidate for the Republicans -- is now realizing that's what he has to at least try to do if he wants some of that sweet, sweet press. So, with that in mind, here he is in a new campaign ad promising to throw the tax code into a wood-chipper or burn it with fire. Behold the Trump Effect in all its glory.

Granted this thing just dropped today, but it still only has around 12,000 views as of this writing and that feels like a pretty small number for a clip of a presidential candidate wielding a chainsaw. Sorry, Rand, you're gonna have to do better than that. It's a whole new world out there.
