Khloe Kardashian's Niqab Selfie is Offensive Because it Offends Women, Not Islam

Khloe Kardashian's new look may be offending social justice warriors and some Muslims who believe she is offending Islam, but in reality, she is offending women who should never have to wear a ridiculous clown outfit for fear of violent male repercussions.

Firstly, I resent having to put Khloe Kardashian's name in the headline for this article. Being famous because your sister was in a sex tape with a minor celebrity does not make you culturally relevant in my book. Nevertheless, we live in an age where stardom is bequeathed to the most narcissistic amongst us - the Kardashian family representing the ultimate manifestation of this regrettable cultural aberration.

Khloe Kardashian, Kim Kardashian's younger sister and co-star of a reality show (that may single handedly be responsible for the end of western civilization), is currently in Dubai and posted the following photo of herself on Instagram:

There are a couple of things worth noting here. Firstly, women are not obligated to wear the Niqab in Dubai, so it seems Kardashian donned it as a fashion statement rather than a gesture towards her host country (because of course veiling oneself is so edgy). Secondly, the reaction to Kardashian's fundamentalist inspired selfie has been, for lack of a better word, pathetic. The internet responded to the Instagram post with unbridled fury, accusing Kardashian of being racist and engaging in cultural appropriation. Here were some reactions on Twitter:

And on the Instagram photo itself:

The Huffington Post, The Hollywood Reporter, and Buzzfeed all ran stories about the internet backlash and Kardashian's history of 'cultural appropriation', yet none mentioned the most glaringly obvious transgression Kardashian committed - namely wearing one of the most grotesque symbols of female oppression on the planet.

There is nothing sadder than watching liberals defend some of the most disgusting elements of Islam and Islamic culture, and the niqab appears to be a favorite of those determined to undo hundreds of years of progressive intellectual thought. The niqab is particularly oppressive given it covers almost all of a woman's face, unlike the the hijab (a head scarf) that only covers the head and neck. The covering of women stems from the deeply sexually dysfunctional mythology that not only is sexuality is wrong, but that women have no rights to determine how they should dress. Islam is explicitly anti women with many verses in the Quran stating that women are inferior to men. Some examples:

Qur'an (4:11)  and (4:176)- "The male shall have the equal of the portion of two females"

Qur'an (2:223) - "Your wives are as a tilth unto you; so approach your tilth when or how ye will..."

Qur'an (4:3)"Marry women of your choice, Two or three or four"

Qur'an (4:24) and Qur'an (33:50)- These verses state that a man is permitted to take women as sex slaves outside of marriage.

The wearing of the niqab is a direct result of the Quran's very exact directives about how women should be treated in society, and while many Muslim women state that it is their choice, millions do not have that choice and have been killed or badly maimed for defying the archaic tradition.

The Al Khansa brigade, ISIS' all-female policing unit in Mosul, Iraq, recently disfigured 15 women who were caught not wearing the niqab by pouring acid over their faces. Women in certain areas of Sudan can face public flogging if they are caught not wearing the traditional headwear, and Saudi women are obligated to wear either the hijab or niqab and are often labeled 'infidels' for any act of defiance.

Here is what happened to some Christian women in Iraq after being caught by ISIS:

Sadly, it needs to be stated clearly that I am not attacking Muslims or people of color - I am attacking the backwards elements of a religion that happens to be called Islam. Not all Muslims wear the niqab, and not all Muslims are sexist. But their religion is, and while Khloe Kardashian seems to think it is pretty cool, liberals don't seem to care.
