"They’re nothing more than domestic terrorists."

-- Harry Reid on the Bundy Ranch supporters who brandished weapons against federal agents during a weekend standoff

He goes on to say:

"I repeat: what happened there was domestic terrorism. Clive Bundy does not recognize the United States. The United States, he says, is a foreign government. He doesn’t pay his taxes. He doesn’t pay his fees. And he doesn’t follow the law. He continues to thumb his nose at authority... It is an issue we cannot let go, just walk away from."

Wow.

It's already been noted that if Cliven Bundy were black, all those self-righteous Randian assholes calling him a patriot on Fox News would've instead been excoriating him for being exactly what he is: a lawless deadbeat who's spent 20 years leeching off taxpayers.

Likewise, though, if Bundy's name were instead Ahmed and if the men defending him with AR-15s last weekend had been brown-skinned and of Arabic descent, those same self-righteous assholes would've been losing their minds, demanding that President Obama publicly label those behind the standoff terrorists and send in the military to kill every single one of them. It wouldn't even have mattered whether the guys with guns were American citizens.

See, it works like this for the right: Brown/Muslim = Terrorist. White/Christian = Not Terrorist (ever). Except that Reid's right. Regardless of your background or the color of your skin, if you threaten federal agents with an assault rifle -- especially with the goal of influencing public policy -- you can be called a terrorist.

Get ready, though. Get ready for the right to shriek that Reid's the problem here.
