The Most Offensively Dumb Tweet from an Elected Republican Politician Ever

North Carolina State Senator Bob Rucho (R-District 39) not only invoked Godwin's Law by comparing something to Nazis, but he ran over Godwin's Law with a tanker-truck full of crazy, stopped, backed up, ran over it again, then got out of the truck to unzip and whiz all over its corpse.

First of all, they had swords?

Second, and more importantly, it's difficult to imagine any political analogy this far off the mark. Obamacare and the Chief Justice are more deadly then Nazi Germany, the Soviet Union and all terrorists ever -- combined. Let's run some numbers.

World War II: 183,000 American military deaths in the European theater.
Fatalities by Islamic Terrorists on American Soil: Around 3,100
Obamacare deaths: Zero. And, in fact, millions of Americans will receive affordable, comprehensive healthcare as a result of the law.

Yeah, totally more damage -- if you're crazier than a bag full of cats.

He tweeted later: "Those that tweeted, put your thinking caps back on: 'The PEN is mightier than the SWORD. 'Edward Bulwar-Lytton, 1839. But surely you knew that." Oh, we totally get it. But it's not the pen/sword thing that people are jacked up about, it's the "more damage" part.

The state GOP has asked Rucho to apologize. I'll be surprised if he does.
