Now Hear This (Best of 2013): The Virginmarys Had the Most Ferocious Break-Up Song of the Year

This track in particular was a perfect snapshot of the album, barreling along like a tank and finally dissolving into frontman Ally Dickaty simply screaming with palpable ferocity, "You lied, you lied, you lied, you liar." It was chilling, but undeniably fucking awesome stuff.

Continuing our look back at some of the best music of the past year as the lead-up to the Best Singles of 2013 list, it's time for one of the most snarling, gut-punch rock songs to come out of the U.K. in recent memory.

The Virginmarys formed in 2006, releasing a series of EPs before going forward with a full record. While their debut album, King of Conflict, didn't offer anything we haven't heard before, what it did it did very well. It was full of genuine angst tinged with that distinctly Brit flair that balances rage with snotty indifference.

This track in particular was a perfect snapshot of the album, barreling along like a tank and finally dissolving into frontman Ally Dickaty simply screaming with palpable ferocity, "You lied, you lied, you lied, you liar." It was chilling, but undeniably fucking awesome stuff. Probably the best break-up song of the year. It made you pray for Dickaty to somehow start dating Taylor Swift just for the musical fireworks that would inevitably result.
