Glenn Beck Comment Porn: Lawrence O'Donnell Gaffe Edition

Lawrence O'Donnell's producers made an honest mistake and the Glenn Beck commenters jumped all over O'Donnell, MSNBC and the president like a gaggle of poop-flinging monkeys -- lots of "57 states" references ensue.

Hello, Bob here filling in for Ben. In this week's edition of 'Glenn Beck Comment Porn' we look at comments on The Blaze under a story about Lawrence O'Donnell apparently mentioning that Yellowstone Park is located in Utah. Yellowstone is not in Utah.

Headline: LAWRENCE O’DONNELL’S LITTLE GEOGRAPHICAL ERROR WHILE ATTACKING SEN. MIKE LEE

While discussing Sen. Mike Lee's (R-UT) role in the Ted Cruz filibuster and the subsequent government shutdown, O'Donnell correctly noted that Utah's largest employer is the federal government. To illustrate how the shutdown is negatively impacting Utah, O'Donnell showed a series of headlines including this one: "Frustration Reins In Wake of Yellowstone Closure" from the West Yellowstone News website.

I'm not sure how that headline made it into the mix because while Yellowstone is in neighboring Wyoming, and I'm sure people who visit Yellowstone might also visit Utah, it's definitely not in Utah. Ultimately, it was tossed in there by a producer who, in the haste of assembling the package, made an honest mistake.

But the Glenn Beck commenters tried desperately to make it seem as if O'Donnell is an idiot. Here's "smokeysmoke" who randomly accused MSNBC producers of being "BIGOTS."

Speaking of bigots, a commenter named "bum thrower" with a Nathan Bedford Forrest avatar (Confederate general and the founder of the KKK -- okeedokee) thinks "leftists" fear Cruz, Palin and the other tea party leaders:

Commenter "progressive slayer" likes to combine his homophobia with alliteration:

And, of course, any time a liberal screws up, there's always a conga line of always-hilarious "57 states" references.

The joke goes back to 2008 when then-Senator Obama said he'd visited all "57 states" during the campaign, except for three other states including Hawaii and Alaska. Clearly he meant 47 states. Again, one gaffe that's fed the right-wing masses for five years. However, it's only a thing if the president is genuinely unintelligent. He's not, but the Glenn Beck commenters seem to think he is -- including commenter "belief101" who screwed up the "its" "it's" rule.

Thanks, everyone. Ben will be back next week...
