Whoops 2013: CPAC’s Bigot Eruption

It wasn’t supposed to go down this way. CPAC had prepared for the inevitable liberal comments about how CPAC was so old, so white, and had tossed in some black and latino speakers into the mix. There was Allen West! Tim Scott! Nikki Haley! All the conservatives of color, assembled in one location.

But because the Tea Party is going to do what the Tea Party does, they also had a session on how the right is totally not racist and then a racist went and showed up.

The modern conservative movement has been pretty good at saying they aren’t racist, while at the same time doing everything they can to stop minority voters while also giving a wink and nod to race based attacks on the right. Their ideological leader, Rush Limbaugh, does everything but a shuck and jive routine when he talks about blacks on the left like President Obama or Jesse Jackson (and apostates from the right, like Colin Powell).

But the establishment does its best to keep the movement’s festering racism down in the basement where it can chew on the raw meat and help power votes but without provoking unfriendly headlines.

Yet we know what they say about the best laid plans of mice and men. Because there really is a racist strain on the right – and while it is definitely dying out as America becomes a more inclusive nation every day – it is still around and serves a function on the right.

On Friday, it bit them in the butt. Maybe they’ll learn. I doubt it.

  • Lady Willpower

“laughably false?” Yes, since Patterico decided that the clear footage of someone applauding the racist guy didn’t count, we’ll just act like nothing at all happened.
And as if that wasn’t ridiculous enough, Patterico then takes the LACK of evidence of the woman being disruptive as PROOF that she WAS disruptive.
Again: actual video evidence doesn’t count because “we don’t know who that guy was,” but NO video evidence is conclusive proof that something took place.

Some of the commentators there are so smart, SF:

limited federal power, state’s rights and making sure black people don’t vote.

The modern Dems obviously do not believe this. They believe in
unlimited federal power, have a complete disregard for the 10th
Amendment, and want anyone to be able to vote as many times as they
    wish.

Yep, because people voting as many times as they wish is how Obama got in office despite the will of the majority of the American voter both times.

    This is who they are.

  • http://twitter.com/wetcasements James

Republicans are racist clowns. And finally the media is growing a pair of balls to call bullshit on their anti-black, anti-woman, anti-gay pathology.

It’s funny though. They literally cannot help themselves.

    • Dennis

Like a duck to water, Oliver seeks out racism wherever he can find it, throws out the same red meat blog post he can write by heart because he’s done it a thousand times already, and like it’s his high school reunion, Jaim shows up to post something he’s said ten thousand times on here.

      They literally cannot help themselves.

      • The Dark Avenger

“Pay no attention to the racist at the CPAC convention!”

        • Dennis

That’s like saying your cissexist epithets toward a transgendered woman means all liberals are cissexist transphobes like you are, DA. If you’re like Oliver and Jaim and calling the the other party racists is your predominant political strategy and one you enjoy employing as frequently as possible, it’s not too hard to find it if you really, really want to.

          • The Dark Avenger

I’m so sorry, Dennis, but I have to flag your comment as being off-topic again, I’m sorry that you seem to be the master at taking my bating around here. :-)

you’re like Oliver and Jaim and calling the the other party racists is your predominant political strategy

Gee, Dennis, what could be racist about wishing that Frederick Douglass should’ve thanked his former owner for feeding him and sheltering him?

What could be racist about saying that:

“It seems to be that you’re reaching out to voters at the expense of
young white Southern males,” Terry said, adding he “came to love my
people and culture” who were “being systematically disenfranchised.”

            ?

I’m sorry you don’t have it in you to denounce this clear-cut case of racism, but thanks for sharing.

        • dbtheonly

Actually DA, it’s funny because while Dennis accuses us of re-playing the same scene, he jumps in to his standard role as well. I’ve no doubt that you could write Dennis’ posts as well as he can.

          • The Dark Avenger

At least Dennis isn’t blaming this on Media Matters or ACORN.

            Yet.

          • dbtheonly

            The night is young.

I’m waiting for Robert Byrd & the KKK.

          • The Dark Avenger

They were mentioned in the thread from Patterico the idiot that SF linked to above.

      • http://twitter.com/wetcasements James

Racist Stalker Chickenhawk Dennis, which points made by the bigots at CPAC do you agree or disagree with?

BTW, do I get a plane ticket to kick your ass this summer or not? Trying to sort out my frequent flyer miles and so on.

        See you soon!

        • Dennis

Remember when you called this a “shitty blog”, Jaim?

Yet once again, here you are.

You can’t help yourself. It’s who you are.

          • http://twitter.com/wetcasements James

I don’t love it as much as you do, that’s for sure.

Having a job and a girlfriend and a life will do that to you.

          • dbtheonly

            Jaim,

Posting that at 2:00 EDT strongly suggests you have no life, like the rest of us. Still, I’m glad you’re here to add to our conversations. Each of us adds a distinctive viewpoint to the discussion & I appreciate your posts.

          • The Dark Avenger

Jaim lives overseas, so he does have a life, it’s just one that doesn’t take place in the Pacific, Mountain, Central or Eastern time zones.

          • Dennis

“Jaim lives overseas, so he does have a life.”

Needing to declare out loud on a liberal blog that one has a life suggests otherwise.

          • The Dark Avenger

I’ll be out taking a walk in the sunshine today, Dennis Boo-Boo, I do wish you could do the same.

      • Zython

Thanks, Dennis, this one’s been gathering dust.

Dennis’s Theorem of Conservative Racism: The number of incidents necessary to prove that conservatives have a problem with racism is equal to the number of incidents on record plus 1.

      • 16shellsfroma30aught6

Oliver seeks out racism wherever he can find it

A right-wing racist asshole interrupting an event at the largest conservative event of the year, reported on by Talking Points Memo, one of the largest, most widely read political blogs online.

Oliver sure had to look far and wide to find that one, didn’t he?

      • http://www.facebook.com/people/Jim-Ramphal/853895633 Jim Ramphal

You’re actually defending a fucking self avowed racist Dennis?

And no one is the least bit surprised.

        • Dennis

Do you see that defense anywhere, Jim?
