Poll Shocker: President Obama Up by Two Points According to Right-Leaning Rasmussen

The Daily Banter Headline Grab. From Rasmussen:

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Thursday shows President Obama attracting support from 47% of voters nationwide, while Mitt Romney earns 45% of the vote. Three percent (3%) prefer some other candidate, and four percent (4%) are undecided. See daily tracking history.

When “leaners” are included, it’s Obama 50% and Romney 47%. Leaners are those who are initially uncommitted to the two leading candidates but lean towards one of them when asked a follow-up question.

Nine percent (9%) of voters now consider national security issues most important in this election. That’s up from five percent (5%) a week ago. Almost all of the increase has come from Republicans. While the economy is the number one issue for all parties, national security now replaces fiscal policy issues as the number two concern for GOP voters. Fiscal policy concerns remain the lowest priority among five issues for Democrats, while it’s second for voters not affiliated with either party.

On national security matters, the recent events in the Middle East so far have had no impact on the president’s ratings. Forty-six percent (46%) believe he is doing a good or excellent job on national security matters, while 36% rate his performance as poor.
