Mitt Romney

If you thought Mitt Romney couldn't sound more disconnected to the common man than he already has, think again. Being photoed having his shoes shined, claiming that almost $400,000 from speaking fees 'wasn't much' and asserting he wasn't really worried about the poorest Americans, Romney would be hard pressed to top his list of massive blunders. But according to a report on CBS, Romney was overheard saying the following:

Mitt Romney went to the Daytona 500 NASCAR race Sunday for what should have been a chance to show he's one of the guys. Instead, in casual conversation with an Associated Press reporter at the Florida track, he reminded people once again that he is not exactly a regular Joe.

Asked by the AP reporter if he follows NASCAR, Romney responded, "Not as closely as some of the most ardent fans. But I have some great friends who are NASCAR team owners."

It's amazing that his advisers haven't beaten this out of him. His extraordinary ability to put his foot in his mouth when it comes to talking about money and poverty is unparalleled. John Kerry was pretty bad in 2004, but Romney is making him look like Che Guevara in comparison.

Being proud of your wealth in 2012 is not a campaign winning strategy. The country is going through serious economic problems with chronic unemployment and spiraling poverty. Americans want a President who understand the blue collar fans of Daytona, not the money men buying and selling their teams.
