Astonishing Move By Supreme Court

Sweeping aside a century-old understanding and overruling two important precedents, a bitterly divided Supreme Court on Thursday ruled that the government may not ban political spending by corporations in candidate elections.

The ruling was a vindication, the majority said, of the First
Amendment’s most basic free speech principle — that the government has
no business regulating political speech. The dissenters said allowing
corporate money to flood the political marketplace will corrupt
democracy.

From The New York Times

This is one of the biggest blows to the Democratic process since corporations were given the same rights as people in 1886. The insane move by the Supreme Court should be viewed by the American public as a direct and imminent threat to the United States, and should be fought with every resource possible. It is not a matter of Left vs Right, but the people vs giant corporations. The poisonous effects of corporate money in elections is blindingly obvious. The system is already so corrupted by money that 4th rate thinkers like George Bush and Sarah Palin can gain national prominence, and corporate front men like Joe Lieberman are viewed as 'centrist' in the political spectrum.

Obama has vowed to fight the move, and if he makes good on his promise, he may go some way in repairing his tarnished image.
