One of the problems with the internet is its ability to find ways of losing jobs as fast as it creates them. Everyblock is, as Tech Crunch reports "A hyperlocal news aggregator, bringing in geo-specific feeds from
neighborhood blogs, Flickr, Yelp, Craigslist, and elsewhere to give
readers a picture of what is going on in their town or neighborhood."

The company has been bought out by MSNBC and will be used to outsource local news on its website.

While the technology is interesting, it is another blow to journalism as actual reporting will go out the window. MSNBC could invest money in local journalism, but it can save more by having a clever program to use other people's sites (that probably don't make much money) to do it for them.
